Where the journey began.

The story behind AJ Adventures.
Born and raised in Chiang Mai, AJ grew up watching travellers come to his hometown. He chose tourism because he wanted people to experience more than a place to photograph — he wanted them to understand the people, the culture and the life behind it.
More than 30 years of guiding, travelling and working directly with people shaped the way AJ Adventures creates meaningful local experiences today.
From the mountains of Northern Thailand to the sea, then back to Chiang Mai — each chapter shaped the way AJ sees travel today.

AJ began his life in tourism as a trekking guide in Northern Thailand, leading travellers through forests and local communities.

Around 1999, AJ moved into scuba diving. He kept developing his skills and became a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor in 2002.

In 2006, AJ began his journey with G Adventures and discovered a travel philosophy centred on responsible tourism, supporting local communities and meaningful experiences.
AJ continued working with G Adventures for around 6–7 years.

AJ was nominated for The Paul Morrison Guide Award by Wanderlust, recognising his work as a guide and the glowing testimonials received about his work.
“The bicycle is the tool.
Human connection is the experience.”
